Jump to: navigation, search

hey there! i see you are making a great amount of edits on the wiki!! that's wonderful. not sure if you are active in the discord, but i am QuickMythril. User:QuickMythril i was working on the wikia (now fandom) pages for a while, and tried to work towards merging this wikis efforts with that one. see my conversation: Talk:Idle_Champions_of_the_Forgotten_Realms_Wiki anyway just wanted to check in with you because i was thinking about doing some work again, and when i checked the recent changes i realized all that you had done. figured it would be good to communicate and be on the same page if i started to help. 06:24, 4 October 2019‎ (UTC)

Hey, glad to meet you. I don't see a problem with having two separate wikis, because they present the information very differently. In particular, the other wiki doesn't have any place for explanatory text on its champion pages, which imo is the entire purpose of having a wiki. Bobmath11 (talk) 15:12, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
there is absolutely no reason to have two wikis. they are both intended to provide complete information. of course the other wiki "has a place for explanatory text", it just hasn't been added. anyone editing has to decide between the two wikis, which is silly to divide the efforts of people who want to accomplish the same goals. i have no personal attachment to the fandom/wikia at this point, though it does seem weird now that twitch owns fandom (which bought wikia) and now it seems fandom owns gamepedia too? anyway my main reason for contacting you was to try and work together. do you know if anyone else has been making significant edits? (i haven't seen much aside from you). do you chat in the discord? is there an easier way we can communicate and share our plans for wiki improvements? i don't want to start doing something, only to find that you already had plans to go another direction. 04:52, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
You might check the active users list: Special:ActiveUsers. If you have ideas for improving the wiki, then by all means share them. Bobmath11 (talk) 03:52, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
yes i've seen there. not a big fan of randomly having to check back to see if you edited this page, only to get a very disinterested seeming response. same as other editors. i have no idea what your method is. are you using something to translate the game defs into wiki entry data? do you want help? not sure if you are just posting this info for yourself or want to be a part of the community. do you use reddit or discord? i am the same name on all places, so if you would like to possibly increase content with decrease effort, feel free to contact me. otherwise i will probably just do what i can to help with as it seems a lot more promising. 10:35, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
Yes, I'm sure that fellow will enjoy being told he's wasting his time and he should get on your discord. Ta ta! Bobmath11 (talk) 14:15, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

except that he's already on CNE's Discord. and it's saving time by automatically updating info from the game definitions. enjoy editing every single page whenever they post updates. i gave up on doing that long ago. glad to see someone else picking up where others left off though i guess. 16:06, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

I was hoping you were serious about being done with this discussion, but I guess that was just melodrama. Do you actually have anything to contribute, or are you just here to argue? Soul Reaver is going to have to update his game definitions parser every time they make an update, so he's in the same boat as the wikis. Bobmath11 (talk) 16:18, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
