Trials of Mount Tiamat Banner

The Trials of Mount Tiamat is a mini-campaign that introduces an asynchronous co-operative multiplayer system and new challenges and loot. You can earn Bahamut's Favor that can be converted into main campaign favors similar to event/time gate favor, and Glory of Bahamut Chests, that contain consumables that help you do higher-difficulty Trials runs. You can also earn Scales of Tiamat which you can use in the Forge to upgrade epic gear items into Legendary gear items, granting them new powers.

Requirements[ | ]

To unlock the Trials of Mount Tiamat, first, you must have finished Elturel's Last Stand in the Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus campaign. This will unlock the introductory Trials of Mount Tiamat adventure: The Mad God. Completing The Mad God adventure unlocks the asynchronous co-operative multiplayer portion of Trials of Mount Tiamat.

Multiplayer[ | ]

The Trials of Mount Tiamat are an asynchronous co-operative multiplayer that allows you to participate with other players to banish Tiamat back to the Nine Hells. You join or create a Trial Campaign and then send one of your champions to join with other player's champions to form a five champion assault front. Your selected champion will not be available for any other adventures for the duration of the assault on Tiamat. You have one week from the start of the assault to defeat Tiamat. While your assault champion is away, the rest of your champions can help the fight against Tiamat by doing daily runs that contribute bonus DPS to your assault champion and generate Bahamut Favor.

Your assault champion will choose between five fronts to aid in fighting Tiamat and the Cult of the Dragon. Only one area can be chosen per assault member, choosing between terrain around Mount Tiamat (Forest, Plains, Mountains, Swamp, and Underground). Each assault champion provides different passive buffs, based on their Item Level and their role, that applies to either the assault party or during daily adventure runs:

You still have to wait six days* from the start of your initial run to create or join a new trials run.

Rewards[ | ]

Completing a specific assault front for the week will unlock 1 of 10 unique Wyrmspeaker skins:

Note: in order to unlock all the 10 skins, a player have to complete each of the five areas twice (so it will require at least 10 weeks of playing).

Defeating Tiamat will reward you with Scales of Tiamat (used in forging Legendary items), assault front skins, and a Glory of Bahamut Chest (Contains scrolls that give buffs during the Trials and a lesser vial of Tiamat blood to activate higher difficulty trials). The first time you defeat Tiamat on a particular difficulty, you're rewarded 3x the amount of Scales of Tiamat.

Crafting Legendary Items[ | ]

To craft a legendary quality piece of gear, you need two things: an epic quality piece of gear and Scales of Tiamat. Under the Forge menu option, select a Champion, then select a piece of gear. You'll then see a list of six possible legendary gear effects that can be forged into an item. The initial cost is 1,000 Scales of Tiamat for a randomly selected effect. You can keep on reforging an item for a more desired effect, but at a higher increasing cost within a 24 hour period. Each upgrade increase naturally reduces in cost every 24 hours until it returns to the 1,000 Scales of Tiamat cost.

Once you craft your legendary item, you can upgrade the legendary effect's level of power by using 1,000 Scales of Tiamat and a bit of campaign favor (chosen at random from existing regular campaign costing e01 of that selected favor amount).

See the Forge article for more details.
