Split The Party is the adventure unlocking additional parties for multi-party mode and modron cores to buff and automate your parties. Access it through the icon in the top right of the map screen. Additional modron cores are occasionally available as Seasons rewards.

It is a separate campaign with no favor. The adventure and variant will therefore always display as Difficulty: Deadly.

Complete a challenging adventure to unlock an additional party.
Requirement(s)
Must have at least two Champions in every bench slot.
Objective(s) Complete Area 50
Restriction(s)
No favor bonus or favor reward.
Areas get harder much more quickly.
Click damage is reduced to 0 after area 5 and fire breath potions can not be used.
Once a champion is placed in the formation they can not be swapped or removed.
In areas 13, 27 and 37, 50% of the Champions in your active formation are removed from your party and locked for the remainder of the adventure (chosen at random) (rounded up) (this frees the slot for another champion).

Additional Usage of gold, damage, hp potions is highly recommended.
Buffs from Modron Core on the Party applies (if you already got your first Modron Core via another way).

Is it just me, or is this day hanging heavy with foreboding?

Bruenor:
What are ye talkin' about, elf? 'Tis a beautiful day fer walkin'.

Jarlaxle:
That's my point. A significant number of our most harrowing adventures start out exactly this same way. We need to stay at home more often. Or get a stronghold. Lots of adventurers have strongholds.

Bruenor:
Ah, just take a deep breath o' fresh air and be at one with nature. These wide-open plains. Them bouncin' bunnies ahead. Those clear skies. Them wolf packs.

Jarlaxle:
Sorry, what was that last one again?
1 Defeat 25 Monsters Another day, another journey -- and another mob of wild creatures along for the ride!
2 Defeat 25 Monsters This passel of pups makes it clear what the wolves are defending. You need to send these canines on their way!
3 Collect 25 Boar Tusks A wild boar pack has been drawn to the sound of your fight! Cracking a few tusks might send these creatures on their way.
4 Defeat 25 Monsters From boars to bears. Is there any creature in these woods that isn't spoiling for a fight?

Celeste:
Well, this certainly hasn't been a boring journey so far. Something has these animals riled up.

Jarlaxle:
This is what I'm talking about. Foreboding, hanging there. Do you feel it too?

Nayeli:
I can't feel anything over the sound of you talking, drow. And whatever's growling up ahead sounds as though it's heard you too...

Nayeli:
Everyone quiet. There. Grizzly, dead ahead. And he's angry!

Giles:
Help me! Oh, please!

Bruenor:
And just lyin' low and waitin' till he passes ain't gonna be an option. That there villager's in trouble. Come on!
5 Defeat the Grizzly Bear A monstrous grizzly is going to make a grisly end of this villager unless you can stop it!

Nayeli:
Is this one going to be all right?

Celeste:
The bear didn't hurt them too badly. More frightened than injured, I'd say.

Giles:
Oh... what's happening? I don't... remember...

Bruenor:
Just a bit o' bear trouble. Nothin' tha Champions couldn't handle. But ye probably shouldn't be walkin' alone right now, just in case that bruisin' bruin comes back.

Giles:
No... not alone. I'm sorry, my name is Giles. My head feels... funny. But my village isn't far. There, just along that trail. There was... trouble there... I was looking for something, but I don't remember. I must get back!

Nayeli:
We're heading that way already, Giles, as it happens. We should probably go with you.

Jarlaxle:
You see? This happens a lot too. Wayward stranger, some unidentified peril. Foreboding...

Nayeli:
You're confusing 'foreboding' with 'helping others with no thought of reward,' Jarlaxle. I'm sure this will be an eye-opening experience for you.
6 Defeat 25 Monsters As you head for the village, the last of the bears are hot in pursuit. Send these beasts on their way!

Giles:
There. Things are quiet now, as they should be.

Bruenor:
Ye sure, friend? Ye was actin' a mite scared back there.

Giles:
Oh! Yes. Something is wrong in the village... but why can't I remember?

Celeste:
This is... odd. Look, those flowers ahead. They don't look entirely natural.

Jarlaxle:
Well, I don't want to cause any foreboding...

Nayeli:
Jarlaxle...

Jarlaxle:
But I'm hearing something coming in fast from ahead. Something flying...
7 Collect 25 Strange Flowers A skittering of wings announces an assault of pixies and sprites! And these strange flowers must have something to do with the fey assault!

Celeste:
This is strange. That mist notwithstanding, these don't feel like fey woods to me. And these flowers are a rare bloom. Ye'Cind's tears. Not normally found in these climes -- and rumored to be imbued with enchantment magic.

Nayeli:
Giles, do you know why the pixies and sprites attacked? Has your village had problems with them in the past?

Giles:
Pixies? Sprites? No, there's no fey around these parts.

Bruenor:
Includin' or not includin' tha ones that just attacked us?

Giles:
Attacked? When?

Jarlaxle:
Pretty sure that's nothing to worry about.

Celeste:
Jarlaxle, that bear attack has left Giles in shock. Just let it go.
8 Defeat 25 Monsters You arrive at Giles's village safe and sound -- or at least you'll be safe once these rats are dealt with!

Bruenor:
Right, them rats is scattered. Giles is back with their people. But somethin' is definitely goin' on in these parts. These folks is lookin' right frantic.

Wulfa:
You there! The Champions, Giles called you? All of you have our eternal thanks for our friend's safe return. I'm Wulfa, the headfolk here. And though I fear I make a poor host, I would beseech you for aid in our hour of need.

Nayeli:
The Champions give aid wherever it's asked for, Wulfa. But what's going on?

Wulfa:
Three missing children. They must have run away this morning. We have search parties out, but the aid of powerful adventurers might make the difference. If night falls... well, you've no doubt seen what type of beasts roam these woods.

Bruenor:
Say no more, friend. Just point us where we need ta go, and tha champions will get it done.
9 Defeat 25 Monsters You're set to scour the woods for the missing child -- but this pack of wild dogs looks desperate to keep you company.

Nayeli:
Lots of ground to cover here, even with the villagers searching. We might need to split up.

Jarlaxle:
In these woods? You'll be asking for an ambush. I can't shake this feeling that something's out there. Something malevolent.

Nayeli:
Jarlaxle, there are children out there.

Jarlaxle:
No, something even more malevolent than that.

Bruenor:
Don't mean ta interrupt ye, but am I tha only one hearin' tha howlin' o' them wild dogs gettin' louder?
10 Defeat the Alpha Wolf An alpha wolf has turned these wild canines into a hunting pack. Send it on its way and the pack will scatter!
11 Defeat 25 Monsters The last of the wild dogs are in a frenzy. One solid stand will drive them away!

Bruenor:
That's tha last o' them dogs on their way. But tha noise they made is gonna draw in every other predator within a mile.

Nayeli:
Well, if the predators are focused on us, that might keep the lost children safer for a time.

Jarlaxle:
I can see movement ahead. Watch yourselves.

Bruenor:
What is it? More dogs? Wolves? Bears, boars?

Jarlaxle:
Far worse...
12 Defeat 25 Monsters Your fight through the forest has disturbed a fluffle of rabbits. Get them under control!

Mera:
Oh... oh, help me!

Nayeli:
What in Tyr's name? There's someone hiding, there in the trees. There, now. It's all right. But who are you? How did you get here?

Mera:
I came from the village... needed to find the Champions. 'Mera,' they said, 'find the Champions!' But... I don't remember why...

Celeste:
Did pixies attack you? Their magic might have affected your memory.

Mera:
Pixies? There are no pixies in these woods.

Jarlaxle:
This all sounds awfully familiar. And this incoming pixie mob looks awfully familiar! Watch out!
13 Collect 25 Pixie Dust Caught between vengeful rabbits and a rabid pixie pack! Stand fast!

Celeste:
That's the second attack by pixies out of nowhere. And was it my imagination, or did it seem like they were focused on driving us back from following the children, not just harassing us?

Mera:
The children! Yes! I remember now!

Nayeli:
It's all right, Mera, we're still searching. When we find the children, we'll get you and them back to your village safely.

Mera:
No. No! No safety in the village. That's why I came. Orcs! Orcs are attacking!

Bruenor:
Say what now? We ain't seen no sign o' orc raiders anywhere in these woods.

Mera:
Over the river they came. We've driven them off, but they'll return. You must pursue them, Champions. Come, please!

Bruenor:
Looks like we're splittin' tha party after all, then. We'll need one force ta get back ta tha village with Mera, and one ta keep lookin' fer tha lost nippers. Time ta split up, Champions!
14 Defeat 25 Monsters The deeper woods are filled with a malevolent presence. Twig blights are everywhere!
15 Defeat the Tree Blight A powerful tree blight is whipping these twig blights into a murderous frenzy. Time to prune these evil plants!

Walnut:
That's the last of those blasted blights under control. It's hard enough beating a path through these woods without the woods beating you back.

Jarlaxle:
It's good we cleared this area. And better that there's no sign of child-sized tracks anywhere.

Celeste:
Walnut, do you think you can pick up the children's trail?

Walnut:
Count on it. Come on.

Walnut:
Lots of tracks through here. Hard to read them... but that's a child-sized footprint there for sure.

Jarlaxle:
So we're still on the right track... conveniently.

Celeste:
Something still weighing on your mind, Jarlaxle?

Jarlaxle:
Oh, you know. Hidden enemies. Unseen plots. That sort of thing.

Walnut:
You might have a better chance of being hit by what you can't see. But you've got better odds hitting what you can see, so I'd say focus on that. Those boars, for example. Everybody scatter!
16 Defeat 25 Monsters A wild boar hunting pack crosses your path -- and these pigs seem intent on making a meal of you!
17 Defeat 25 Monsters Your presence draws a bandit scout party out from the trees! Roust them well!
18 Collect 25 Stolen Purses Another force of bandits presses in as snipers attack from range. Lightening these brigands of their ill-gotten gains might break their resolve!

Jarlaxle:
That's a bandit camp through those trees. I'm not liking this.

Celeste:
We're agreed on something, finally. Walnut, the child's tracks?

Walnut:
Lost them in the mess that last fight made. But they were heading this way last I saw them.

Celeste:
If the bandits have them, this fight just got personal. Come on!
19 Defeat 25 Monsters The bandits' camp is most likely where the children are being held. Clear these reprobates out!

Celeste:
There! That sorcerer is leading these brigands. Take them out!

Bandit Sorcerer:
Hold the line! Bring the archers in! No shabby band of adventurers can stand against us!

Jarlaxle:
Shabby? Outrageous! Many of us are well dressed. Well, some of us. One of us.

Walnut:
I hate to get in the way of a good fashion beef, but pretend I'm Bruenor making some annoying rhyme about less yakkety-yak and more stabbity-stab. Go!
20 Defeat the Bandit Sorcerer The sorcerer who leads these brigands is spoiling for a fight. Time to give it to them!

Celeste:
I take it you've had enough?

Bandit Sorcerer:
Oh, my head... yes, enough. Who are you people?

Walnut:
Adventurers with a conscience. Your worst nightmare. But play nice and we'll return the favor. You seen any kids come through here?

Bandit Sorcerer:
Children? What, are you kidding? You've seen how sharp daggers are, right?!

Celeste:
We're thinking more along the lines of, 'Have you kidnaped any children recently?' And understand that we're a bit pressed for time.

Bandit Sorcerer:
Never! We're entirely honorable cutthroat brigands, and proud of it. We haven't seen any children in the woods, you can take my word for that.

Celeste:
Well, he's got no reason to lie now. Let's send these reprobates on their way. Then we need to keep moving.

Walnut:
There! That's the children's trail again. Everyone stay with me.

Jarlaxle:
The tracks are heading deeper into the woods. Does that seem odd to you? Frightened children heading for the darkest part of the forest?

Celeste:
Yes, it seems odd, but the tracks don't lie. So the faster we find the children, the faster we can get them turned around.
21 Defeat 25 Monsters The children's tracks lead deeper into the forest -- and wolf territory!
22 Defeat 25 Monsters Dark and rain make tracking the children hard enough, even without the wolves trying to push you back!
23 Defeat 25 Monsters The wolves are breaking finally -- but swarms of giant bats hinder your final assault!
24 Collect 25 Bat Wings These bats are relentless. Clipping their wings might slow them down!

Jarlaxle:
All this bat shrieking is making it impossible to hear what else might be out there. But that's a cave entrance -- and I can see something big coming out of it!

Walnut:
Vampire bat! And it's a beauty! The rest of its cloud is trying to soften us up for the big guy's attack.

Jarlaxle:
Then we need to convince them we're in a particularly tough and stringy mood. Hit them hard!
25 Defeat the BOSS A monstrous vampire bat is behind this giant bat assault. Take this bloodsucker down!

Jarlaxle:
The vampire bat's out of it, but the rest aren't taking the hint. We need to get into the cave.

Walnut:
That was my next suggestion. The kids' tracks are heading straight in there. Not even slowing down...

Jarlaxle:
I'll assume that thoughtful pause means you're thinking like I've been talking. There's something not on the level here.

Walnut:
No. But Celeste had it right. The faster we catch up, the faster we figure it out.
26 Defeat 25 Monsters The last of the giant bats pursue you in a frenzy, even as giant spiders are drawn to join the fray!

Walnut:
The bats are fleeing. Time to squash these monster bugs finally.

Jarlaxle:
Wait! Listen. The bats are fleeing from something else...

Celeste:
Pixies! Look at that mob!

Jarlaxle:
And look who they're chasing.

Wulfa:
Champions! Thank goodness I've found you! But... confound it, the mosquitoes are bad this time of year.

Jarlaxle:
Another villager seemingly blind to the fey. This gets more interesting all the time.

Celeste:
Him ignoring them won't keep him safe. Champions! Get to Wulfa and clear these sprites out!
27 Defeat 25 Monsters The sprites following Wulfa are out of control! Send them and the spiders on their way!

Wulfa:
Champions! Thank goodness I've found you!

Jarlaxle:
Yes, you said so already. In exactly the same tone and inflection. Celeste, admit I'm right. It won't hurt. And it'll make admitting it the next time that much easier.

Celeste:
Yes, Jarlaxle, you're right. It's like some kind of enchantment... powerful magic.

Wulfa:
Yes, powerful! That's why I've come, Champions. A strange creature was seen flying near the village. A powerful dragon, perhaps!

Jarlaxle:
This is all getting to be a bit too much.

Celeste:
I agree. But we can't afford not to take it at face value. If some sort of enchantment affects the villagers, some creature must be behind it. We need to get back. But we need to find the children...

Jarlaxle:
I know, I know. Everybody gather up, then divide up. One group gets Wulfa back to the village. The rest of us need to get these errant children back and figure out what's going on.

Dhadius:
Finally in the front ranks. It's good to have some room to cast.

Delina:
Just mind your personal space, wizard. When I start casting for real, I don't want you and your little colored orbs to get in the way.

Dhadius:
Casting for real? How precious. I expect you've learned all sorts of new spells of late? Oh, no, I forgot. You can't.

Jarlaxle:
While there's normally nothing I like better than standing by and listening to a wizard and a sorcerer whining at each other about whose spell list is bigger, I'd like to suggest we focus. On that barricade just ahead, perhaps? Because we've got more spiders coming in fast!
28 Defeat 1 Debris Pile This strange pile of debris blocking the path leaves you at the mercy of another spider assault! Clear the barricade, and quickly!
29 Defeat 25 Monsters The walls of the tunnel are alive with giant caterpillars! Get past these grubs!
30 Defeat the Spiked Caterpillar A monstrous spiked caterpillar drives its lesser kin into a feeding frenzy. Hit them hard!

Minsc:
Look there! Is boot prints leading forward now. Small tracks of children are gone.

Jarlaxle:
Convenient. Any idea who's ahead of us?

Delina:
Just get them in range and we won't need to worry about it. Time to let the casters lower the boom.

Jarlaxle:
As long as the casters don't lower the ceiling. Watch yourself down here, or you're going to get to see how mage hand handles heavy excavation work...
31 Defeat 25 Monsters The tunnel winds deeper down beneath the earth -- and a surfeit of skunks seemingly calls this place home!
32 Defeat 25 Monsters The skunks want to get away, but a sudden influx of giant spiders turns the fight into chaos!

Dhadius:
That's the last of the skunks fleeing. Now where do we find fresh air?

Jarlaxle:
About a mile back in the other direction by my reckoning. Just breathe through your mouth and keep moving.

Delina:
Hey! Dancing lights shows something ahead.

These tunnels are rats' nest of wererats! There is no end to them!

Delina:
All the better. Keep them packed in nice and tight, then let me at them.

Dhadius:
And you'll be out of spell slots and overrun in no time. Look there and you'll see the real target. The one leading these riffraff. A little targeted damage takes them out, and the rest will scatter.

Delina:
I think you meant to say 'the rest will smolder,' because I am burning this fight down.

Dhadius:
Arcane amateur. Let me show you how it's done.
35 Defeat the Rat King A fearsome rat king leads these lycanthropes. Take all these villains down!
36 Defeat 25 Monsters More giant spiders come careening out of the darkness. Drive them back!
37 Defeat 25 Monsters Chittering from above and below heralds the arrival of giant bats and giant rats! Step lively!

Delina:
Still a few of those rodents moving, high and low. Another lightning bolt should clear them out.

Dhadius:
Actually, only the rats are rodents. Bats are of the order Chiroptera.

Delina:
And casting lightning bolt means I can't hear you for six seconds. That's a win-win.

Jarlaxle:
I think we've had a few too many lightning bolts already. This tunnel is going to start to crumble... no, scratch that! It's starting already! Everybody move!

Jarlaxle:
Everybody all right?

Minsc:
Is only half of everybody that I see. But those all look unhurt.

Boo:
Squeak!

Minsc:
Boo says he hears voices on other side of collapse! Other friends are safe too. Just apart from us. We must find own way now.

Jarlaxle:
Yes. Our numbers divided again. Right on schedule, seemingly.

Minsc:
You are still speaking of some ruse at play here? This is complex plot if so.

Jarlaxle:
Indeed. But these tunnels can't run much farther. We're at the endgame soon, one way or the other.
38 Collect 25 Lanterns You'll need light for these deeper tunnels -- but a hobgoblin patrol is intent on keeping you in the dark! Grab your lanterns before they can be smashed!
39 Defeat 25 Monsters Wolves patrolling the perimeter press in at the hobgoblins' call! Stand fast!

Boo:
Squeak!

Minsc:
I see, Boo. Boo says hobgoblin shouty-person is making warriors fight.

Jarlaxle:
That's one of their war priests. No wonder the rank and file won't back down. We'll have to take the priest down first! Then maybe the rest will take the hint...
40 Defeat the Hobgoblin Priest A hobgoblin priest orders their forces to hold this tunnel. Push through!
41 Defeat 25 Monsters The hobgoblins scatter, but the last of the wolves pursue you toward the tunnel's end -- and a pack of giant rats has been drawn in by their howling!

Minsc:
Listen! Rats have skittered away. Wolves are gone. All is quiet.

Jarlaxle:
All is quiet except the sound of water from ahead. That's an underground river. What's the footprint situation?

Minsc:
Still troubled. Tracks are here, tracks are there. Hard to read. But someone came through here, and not long ago.

Jarlaxle:
Then we keep going. Come on.
42 Defeat 25 Monsters The rats are close to falling back -- but this underground river is grung territory!

Jarlaxle:
What are grungs doing down here? And if they're attacking us, why are there no signs of them fighting whoever we're following?

Minsc:
We follow people who are very sneaky, perhaps.

Jarlaxle:
Or we're following someone the grungs are working with -- meaning the grungs are waiting for us. We're going to have to fight our way through this horde so we're not surrounded. Let's move!
43 Collect 25 Fishing Nets The grungs plan on using their fishing nets to hinder your progress. Grab them all!
44 Defeat 25 Monsters As fast as you push the grungs back, still more push in!

Minsc:
Listen! That hooting ahead!

Boo:
Squeak!

Jarlaxle:
Owlbear! Watch yourselves!

Minsc:
Wait... you understand Boo, too?

Jarlaxle:
No, I've just heard an owlbear before. Literally everyone has heard an owlbear.

Deekin:
Boss! Owlbear hears us! Doom!
45 Defeat the Owlbear You leave the river behind you at last -- but a pursuing force of grungs forces you straight into this owlbear's lair!

Jarlaxle:
Everyone stay close. One wrong step in this darkness and we'll never see you again.

Minsc:
Minsc stays close, but Boo is here just in case. Everyone knows miniature giant space hamsters have superior vision in dark.

Boo:
Squeak!

Jarlaxle:
Well, I feel better already.

Deekin:
Boss! Boots ahead! Running fast! Doooooom!!!
46 Defeat 25 Monsters The last of the hobgoblins regroup for a final assault! Well, final for them, anyway...

Minsc:
All hold! Let Minsc through. There... yes. Booted footprints.

Evelyn:
Minsc, hon, that's back the way the hobgoblins were coming.

Minsc:
Minsc knows this. Minsc was just wanting to point out that these booted footprints ahead are the same. There, clear trail along tunnel.

Jarlaxle:
Excellent. And those tracks are fresh. Whoever's ahead isn't that far ahead...
47 Defeat 25 Monsters The path ahead is clear -- but undead shadows swarm from the darkness to block your way!
48 Collect 25 Shadowy Gems The shadowy gems that litter this area are fueling the power of this undead swarm. Grab them and banish these shadows for good!
49 Defeat 25 Monsters The cave gives way to an ancient temple, guarded by zombies! But your business is with their unseen master. Push through!

Minsc:
There! Ahead is well-dressed zombie running temple!

Jarlaxle:
So close, Minsc. That's a lich. And it looks awfully familiar...

Boo:
Squeak!

Minsc:
Boo, you are right! That lich is undead scourge we fought before in village under attack by zombies! Old amulet we found was lich's phylactery! Helpful wizard helped us destroy foul creature!

Jarlaxle:
Well, I don't see any helpful wizards in sight this time, so we're on our own. Push through these zombies, then hit this thing fast and hard!
50 Defeat the Lich This insolent lich is back for a rematch. Show this undead lord that the Champions only get tougher the second time around!

Minsc:
Heh. No helpful wizard needed after all. And this even with party split and split and split again. A fine victory, this is. And the end to a mystery. You were right, you think, Jarlaxle? All we have seen was set up by lich?

Jarlaxle:
I'd bet on it. The villagers, all under some kind of enchantment, no doubt using the power of those flowers Celeste recognized. New threats popping up to cut down our numbers. A few halfling zombies leaving childrens' tracks. And the pixies trying to warn us, apparently. Like I told you all. Foreboding.

Minsc:
You are well right, friend Jarlaxle. Four bodings, far too many. One or two is fine most days, though.

Boo:
Squeak!

Minsc:
Boo says...

Jarlaxle:
No, I think I'm getting the gist now. Boo says time to backtrack and find our friends. Let's go.
