Modron Automation is an aspect of the Modron Cores you obtain in game. Modron Cores are obtained by completing the Split The Party quests. You can obtain a total of three Modron Cores through these adventures. A fourth Core can be purchased with gems in the Modron Shop, and some more can be earned as Seasons’ rewards.

Modron Automation Setup

Once you obtain a Modron Core, the Modron Automation icon will become visible on your Adventure Party's screen.

In order to fully benefit and activate the Modron Automation, you have to connect the Input power to the Automation Component using various "pipes" (Modron Components) on the Modron Layout Manager, which usually unlocks at level 3 of your Modron Core (or at level 1 for several Cores). You should also connect the Imput power to various Outputs to get several Party bonuses, use wisely your pipes to maximise the flow and thus the amount of bonus for your Party.

In order to level up, you need to set a Modron Core to a party and complete areas in your adventures. Each further level requires more areas being done for the next Core level up. Each time you level up, you unlock more space on the Core map, two more Output get unlocked, sometimes, you get bonus unidirectional static pipe on the map. And you also recieve Modron Components Chest.

Clicking the Modron Automation icon will display the Automation Setup screen. Clicking Set Formation allows you to specify a saved formation to be used for this automation. Clicking Set Area Goal allows you to specify an adventure level at which your run will be automatically reset and restarted.

This Automated Reset will restart the current adventure at level one and will re-use the formation you specified in Set Formation. You will retain all favor, chests and gems you gathered prior to the reset. In essence, this creates an automated loop which allows your specified formation to farm gems, chests and favor.

In order to progress after being automatically reset, you will need to follow some general steps. After you have completed the following set-up, make sure you SAVE YOUR FORMATION and assign it in the Set Formation section of the Automation Setup screen. (see above)

Familiar Placement For Automation

You will need at least two Familiars. I would recommend using three as a minimum if you have them. You must place one familiar in the field. And you must place one familiar on the Click Damage Level button.

Depending on your overall progress in the Adventure you are in and the amount of relevant Divine Favor you've earned, your familiars alone (without any heroes on the field) will be able to progress a certain number of levels before encountering resistance and slowing down. (The number of levels your familiars can handle is unique to you and is contingent on several things such as your gold find, your favor earned, map difficulty, etc.)

But Familiars alone cannot get past "obstacles" which appear in your run and will halt your progress, and thereby stop the automated loop. To resolve this conundrum, you can either (1) set your level in Set Area Goal to a level number less than the level number in which the first obstacle appears, or (2) add one or more Champions to your formation.

Each added Champion will require their own Familiar, which will be placed on the Champion's Level Up button. (see screenshot above). In addition to the ability to defeat "obstacles", adding Champions (and their assigned familiars) can significantly increase the number of levels you can complete in each automated run and can add to the speed of your runs depending on your selected heroes.

For example, in the screenshot above, I have two Champions assigned to my formation, both of whom have a Speed Role. Deekin causes enemies to spawn more quickly and Lae'zel reduces the number of enemies required for zone completion. Together, they quickly zip through zones, reach the Automated Reset limit and start over again, ad naseum.

If you're not sure which of your owned Champions have the Speed Role, I strongly recommend the site Idle Champions Utils. Once you go through the initial set up there, you can easily see which Champions you own which possess the Speed Role.

If you choose to add Champions to your formation, make sure you observe the first run through and select the Champion feats you want to use. After each Champion's feat is selected, SAVE YOUR FORMATION and make sure you check the "Include currently equipped Feats with save" option. (This will allow your next automated run to use that feat and will prevent the "select feat" screen from interrupting your run.) Also, make sure your new formation appears in the Set Formation section of the Automation Setup screen. (see above)

During that initial observed run, you can also determine how many levels you want to complete each run. When you see that enemies are no longer immediately killed, you can set your Reset limit to the boss level prior to the slowdown. (For example, if you see things start to slow down at level 287, you would set your Reset limit to 280 or 285.) Setting your limit based on immediate kills simply reduces the time each run takes. The difference in time you save may not seem like much on a single run, but after 500 automated loops, the time savings are significant.

Manually Reset Your Adventure

Manually Reset Your Adventure

You can also manually reset an adventure party at any time using the reset buttons in the "Current Parties" screen. You cannot reset your "current" party, but you can reset any others. (If you want to manually reset your current party, just switch to a different party and the reset button will now appear on the that party.) Clicking this reset button will trigger the same type of reset as the automated one, placing your party back at level one of the current adventure. If you haven't implemented the saved formation and the Familiars set-up described above, you'll need to manually select your Champions and manage their levels in the new run.

Good luck and Good Farming!
