| Enter the town of modrons, with modrons on top of modrons. | ||||||

Zaythir: |
All right - we've reached Automata. You'll have to take a train into the gate-town, but this should be a very easy trip overall.
Freely: |
Well not anymore! | |||||
Zaythir: |
What do you mean? | |||||
Freely: |
You can't say a quest is going to be easy, because then it won't be!
Zaythir: |
But everything we know about Automata and what you need to do says this will be easy.
Freely: |
Sure, but then an evil vampire lord will pick today to attack the city or something like that.
Zaythir: |
I think you're overreacting.
| 1 | Defeat 25 Enemies | You know who else overreacts? Intellect devourers! ...I didn't have a good transition. | ||||
Calliope: |
So, what do we do with the mosaic mimir once we're in the town? Is that all we need to do?
Zaythir: |
You must specifically get the mimir to the gate that connects the gate-town to its outerplane. Automata's gate is located in the center of the city. It should be easy to find.
Freely: |
There you go with that easy word again...
| 2 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Mind flayers! Hide your brains and get fighting! | ||||
| 3 | Collect 25 Eyes | Gross - they're dropping eyes! Clean those up! | ||||
Havilar: |
Are you going to be okay here, Zaythir? There are a lot of illithids running around...
Zaythir: |
This isn't the first time the castle has been connected to the Caverns of Thought. I'll be able to handle myself - and the castle has its ways of defending itself as well.
Calliope: |
Wait, then why are we fighting all of them if the castle can do it?
Zaythir: |
Because it's the least you can do for it walking you across the Outlands.
Calliope: |
Yeah, that's fair. | |||||
| 4 | Defeat 25 Enemies | More mind flayers - make some deaders! | ||||
| 5 | Defeat the Mindwitness | Did you know mindwitnesses are tadpole infected beholders?? Enough lore, time to fight! | ||||
Zaythir: |
Good luck, Champions. Easy travels!
Freely: |
Now you're just doing it on purpose.
Zaythir: |
Yes, yes, I am. | |||||
Nayeli: |
All right, that must be the train. It looks like we just get on board and -
![]() Quadrone: |
Error detected! | |||||
Nayeli: |
Uh, can we help you? | |||||
![]() Quadrone: |
You are an error! | |||||
Nayeli: |
What does that mean? | |||||
![]() Quadrone: |
You must be terminated!
Freely: |
I'm blaming Zaythir for this.
| 6 | Defeat 25 Enemies | These modrons aren't happy! Break 'em apart! | ||||
Herald of Dust: |
There! It's the glitches!
Freely: |
Are you kidding me? WE JUST GOT HERE!
Herald of Dust: |
Alert the Harmonium - we've found the fugitives!
| 7 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Dusties - really? I'm not going back! Make some deaders! | ||||
| 8 | Collect 25 Heralds of Dust Signets | Grab those signets! We could use them if we find more dusties later! | ||||
| 9 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Of COURSE they brought the animated coffins! Get fighting! | ||||
| 10 | Defeat the Animated Coffin | Did they ride the animated coffins here? Never mind - defeat 'em! | ||||
Wren: |
Quick! Everyone on the train!
![]() Orkira: |
But isn't it full of - | |||||
Wren: |
No time! Let's go before the Heralds catch up!
![]() Quadrone: |
Errors detected! Errors detected! Terminate!
![]() Orkira: |
I was trying to say the train might be full of modrons.
Wren: |
So, we have to fight everywhere we go - it seems like that's what we do normally anyway!
![]() Orkira: |
I guess that's true. Like Morte says, let's get fighting!
| 11 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Hey, that's my line. Well, she already said it, so you know what to do. | ||||
| 12 | Defeat 25 Enemies | These modrons are out for blood! Show 'em their gears! | ||||
| 13 | Collect 25 Automata Maps | Those tridrones are dropping maps - maybe one shows us how to get out of here! | ||||
Havilar: |
Why are you attacking us?!
![]() Quadrone: |
You are errors! | |||||
Havilar: |
And what does that MEAN?
![]() Quadrone: |
[Mechanical sounds] You are unbalancing the multiverse. Order must be restored!
| 14 | Defeat 25 Enemies | A one and a two, and a one, two, three, four - get fighting! | ||||
Nayeli: |
So, they're attacking us because they somehow know we're glitches.
Wren: |
Which means if one knows, they all probably know.
Freely: |
Someone hand me the sending stone - I need to let Zaythir know what she's done.
| 15 | Defeat the Pentadrone | Defeat this pentadrone - then you can take five! | ||||
![]() Orkira: |
Wait, these modrons aren't attacking us. Do you not see us as errors?
![]() Quadrone: |
We see only the line. Ninety percent of functions turned off. Focus only on the line. Must. Reach. The gate.
Calliope: |
That's convenient! And we must be close to the gate! Let's get moving!
| 16 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Fight these modrons! No, not those modrons - these modrons! | ||||
| 17 | Defeat 25 Enemies | These modrons aren't falling in line - disassemble 'em! | ||||
| 18 | Collect 25 Mechanical Pieces | Hey, those modrons are dropping pieces - might be worth something in Sigil! | ||||
![]() Orkira: |
How... long... have we... been walking...
Morte: |
I'm not clockwork mimir, but I'd say about five hours.
![]() Orkira: |
I really hope we aren't told to go to the back of the line!
Morte: |
That would be pretty bad. You all would look more like me by the time you were at the end!
| 19 | Defeat 25 Enemies | You're leaving destruction in your wake! ...that's a long wake. Keep going! | ||||
| 20 | Defeat the Tridrone | The end is in sight! Take down this tridrone! | ||||
![]() Orkira: |
I can see the end of the line! And the gate!
Nayeli: |
And two very large modron...
Morte: |
Oh, those decatons. I'm sure they'll be VERY understanding of your situation and let you skip the line.
Wren: |
Hello, you're not going to try to kill us, are you?
![]() Decaton: |
... | |||||
Wren: |
We just need to get this mosaic mimir to the gate and -
![]() Decaton: |
Please present pass. | |||||
Wren: |
Uh, we don't have one. | |||||
![]() Decaton: |
BACK OF THE LINE! | |||||
| 21 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Who'd have guessed, an unhelpful modron. Oh well, keep fighting these angry ones! | ||||
![]() Orkira: |
Please, saer Decaton, it is very important that we get to -
![]() Decaton: |
Please present pass. | |||||
![]() Orkira: |
We're trying to find a lost modron legion. Don't you want to help them?
![]() Decaton: |
... | |||||
![]() Orkira: |
Well, it was worth a try.
| 22 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Something tells me these modrons aren't interested in helping. Better fight 'em! | ||||
Aristimus: |
Excuse me, I couldn't help overhearing your problem.
Calliope: |
Hey - you're not a modron!
Aristimus: |
That... is correct. Good observation. Anyway, I was thinking we could help each other out. I have a problem in Inverse, and you need a gate pass I can supply you with.
Wren: |
How can you do that? | |||||
Aristimus: |
I am part of the Council of Order - we run things here in Automata. And yes, again, I am not a modron. I know that might seem weird, but not everyone here is a modron.
Wren: |
So, what's the problem you want us to deal with?
| 23 | Collect 25 Info Scrolls | Those info scrolls could be helpful (probably not) - grab some! | ||||
Aristimus: |
Under Automata is another town called Inverse. There, the gravity flipped, and it's become a hideout for disorderly sorts. One such is a githzerai named Beltha.
Nayeli: |
And what did this Beltha do?
Aristimus: |
She stole the logbook from the train station. We believe she's going to use the information in there to plan an attack on the train. I need you all to go into Inverse and get it back.
Nayeli: |
And what about Beltha? | |||||
Aristimus: |
Bring her in if you can, but I don't think she's going to give up without a fight.
| 24 | Defeat 25 Enemies | They're forming a line now just to fight you! Clear 'em out! | ||||
Wren: |
All right, Aristimus. We're in. Where should we start looking?
Aristimus: |
There's a tavern in Inverse called the Divine Machine. Reports say Beltha has been spotted around there.
Havilar: |
We're on it! | |||||
Aristimus: |
Good luck. Let the decatons here know when you're finished, and I'll meet you back here. In the meantime, I must be off.
Morte: |
That's going to take too long! Give me the mimir; I'm making a run for it!
Wren: |
Wait, Morte - no! | |||||
![]() Decaton: |
Intruder! Terminate! Terminate!
| 25 | Defeat the Decaton | Surprise, surprise - you gotta fight 'em! | ||||
Harmonium Peacekeeper: |
Halt! In the name of the Multiverse!
Morte: |
UGH! Not these guys again!
Harmonium Peacekeeper: |
We're taking you back to Sigil! Resistance is futile!
| 26 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Who sounds like a machine now? Take out these harmonium! | ||||
| 27 | Defeat 25 Enemies | I thought this place couldn't get any worse - but the dusties are here! Clear 'em out! | ||||
| 28 | Collect 25 Swords | Take their swords! Stop 'em from attacking! | ||||
| 29 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Turn these heralds to dust! ...see what I did there? Good, right? | ||||
| 30 | Defeat the Harmonium Captain | It's the captain! Maybe if we take 'em down the rest will give up! | ||||
Freely: |
Well, this is different!
![]() Orkira: |
I... I don't like this. Why is the sky down there??
Nayeli: |
Stay focused, Champions. The faster we find Beltha the faster we can get out of here.
| 31 | Defeat 25 Enemies | No modrons so far - but plenty of kenku! Get fighting! | ||||
| 32 | Defeat 25 Enemies | I know it's silly, but all these thieves make me feel at home. Anyway - make some deaders! | ||||
| 33 | Collect 25 Daggers | Those daggers are probably stolen - steal 'em back! | ||||
| 34 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Thieves want your gear! Give 'em the ends of your blades first! | ||||
Green Slaad: |
Stop right there. Best turn around and head up top again.
Havilar: |
We've got business in - | |||||
Green Slaad: |
You've got nothing in nowhere. We know why you're here. This is your last chance to turn around.
Havilar: |
[Shrugs] Guess we're fighting then!
| 35 | Defeat the Green Slaad | The green slaad wants a fight - give it to 'em! | ||||
Wren: |
All right, this is the Divine Machine. The green slaad said they knew who we were, so they'll probably be watching us. If you spot a watcher let's introduce ourselves.
| 36 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Why are these drunks in costume? Did we miss a party? I love parties! | ||||
| 37 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Hey barkeep, I'll take a - is that oil? I'm sad now. Fight something to cheer me up. | ||||
| 38 | Collect 25 Barrels | The drunks are stealing barrels! Let's stay on the barkeep's good side and get them back! | ||||
| 39 | Defeat 25 Enemies | The drunks and the thieves are working together! Make some deaders! | ||||
Calliope: |
There's a red slaad in the back that's been eyeing us since we got here. Maybe they know something.
Morte: |
Red slaads aren't really known for 'knowing something'.
Wren: |
Right now, it's the best lead we have.
Havilar: |
Leave it to me, I've got this.
Havilar: |
Hey red slaad - where's Beltha?
Wren: |
Havilar! | |||||
Red Slaad: |
HAHA! Secret hideout is hidden from you. Only I know it is under bar.
Wren: |
What was that? | |||||
Red Slaad: |
Uh, uh - I RIP YOUR HEAD OFF NOW!
| 40 | Defeat the Red Slaad | We got the info AND get to fight? It's a good day. | ||||
Nayeli: |
Beltha! We're here for the logbook. No one needs to get hurt here - just give us the book and we'll leave!
Beltha: |
HAHA! I've got a whole gang of thieves and killers that say you're the only ones that are going to get hurt. Get 'em!
| 41 | Defeat 25 Enemies | I was going to say get 'em, but she said that so... make some deaders! | ||||
Havilar: |
Beltha, I feel like I should warn you - you and your gang aren't even the worst thing we've fought today. You're not going to stand a chance.
Beltha: |
So, what you're saying is I should ignite this tavern with magic fire and slip away in the chaos?
Havilar: |
No... that was supposed to get you to give up...
Beltha: |
Then I feel I should warn you - you don't know who you're messing with.
| 42 | Defeat 25 Enemies | She's got modrons working for her! Turn 'em to pieces! | ||||
| 43 | Collect 25 Modron Pieces | Speaking of pieces - grab as many as you can! | ||||
| 44 | Defeat 25 Enemies | There aren't many left! Clear these and get to Beltha! | ||||
Nayeli: |
Beltha, it's over. Give us the logbook.
Beltha: |
Maybe you don't understand what it means to be dedicated to a cause. I'm tired of how this place is run, and it's time for us to take what's ours. I want that more than anything - even if it means dying in the process.
Nayeli: |
If anything, dedication is something I feel more connected to than anything else.
| 45 | Defeat the Beltha | She's not giving up! Defeat her! | ||||
Freely: |
Hey, decatons, can you let Aristimus know we're back and have the logbook?
![]() Decaton: |
[Mechanical sounds] It is done.
Freely: |
Can you also tell these other modrons to stop trying to terminate us?
![]() Decaton: |
...No. | |||||
| 46 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Time to wait - which is a great time to fight! | ||||
| 47 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Stop me if you've heard this one - MORE MODRONS! | ||||
| 48 | Collect 25 Modron Dust | Those modrons are dropping dust - that's strange enough to collect! | ||||
| 49 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Seriously, HOW MANY MODRONS CAN THERE BE? Keep fighting! | ||||
Aristimus: |
Thank you, Champions. You have done Automata a great service today. And for that, here is your gate pass.
Wren: |
Thank you, Aristimus. Glad we could help. We don't have to wait in that line, do we?
Aristimus: |
Oh, haha, no. That pass lets you skip it. But also, the line doesn't actually need to be that long. The modrons just really like orderly lines.
| 50 | Defeat the Quadrone | Take out this quadrone while the mimir does its work! | ||||
Mosaic Mimir: |
[Static sounds followed by a click] Information logged. Corruption stabilized.
Havilar: |
We did it! | |||||
Wren: |
All right, Champions. On to the next gate-town!
