| The Champions venture into the mountains of the Outlands and discover what being a hero really means. | ||||||
| Area | Goal | Quests & Cinematics | ||||
Zaythir: |
Well, Champions, do you want the good news or the bad news first?
Calliope: |
I guess the bad first? | |||||
Zaythir: |
The next and last gate-town, Glorium, is located in a ring of very tall mountains. So tall, in fact, that the Walking Castle cannot get over them. I'll have to drop you off, and you'll have to walk the rest of the way.
![]() Freely: |
What's the good news? | |||||
Zaythir: |
We've arrived at the mountains and it's time to start walking.
![]() Freely: |
I don't think you know what good news means...
| 1 | Defeat 25 Enemies | [Yawns] Is it adventure time again already? I thought we just had one. Oh great, more flying snakes! | ||||
| 2 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Seriously, can we do something about these flying snakes? They're looking at me like I'm their new home! | ||||
![]() Freely: |
Hey, Wren. Are you doing all right? You've seemed distant for a little bit.
Wren: |
Thanks for checking on me, Freely. Honestly, the revelation of having been a villain is still weighing on me. I talked to Mrs. Fox in Sylvania about it - and she did make me feel better, but...
![]() Freely: |
But what? | |||||
Wren: |
I've been given this second chance to be a hero. And I feel like these forms I've been in WERE heroes. But I don't think I know what it really is to be one...
![]() Freely: |
Wren, you've done plenty of heroic things on this adventure!
Wren: |
I did things to further my goal of getting my memories back. I don't know if I did them because they were the right thing to do or if it was just to keep going and stay with you Champions. Villains are the heroes of their own stories. How do I know my story is a good one? I... I don't know if I feel like I'm a hero.
| 3 | Collect 25 Snakes | All right, just start gathering these snakes up at least - there are too many of them! | ||||
| 4 | Defeat 25 Enemies | They're out here too?! I've never been so glad to leave this castle! Carve a path! Yes, I stole that one from Havilar! | ||||
![]() Freely: |
[Whispers] Hey, I think we really need to hype Wren up on this adventure.
![]() Orkira: |
Why are you whispering?
![]() Freely: |
[Loudly whispers] Because I don't want Wren to hear me!
![]() Orkira: |
Oh - [Whispers] Oh, right. What did you have in mind?
![]() Freely: |
[Whispers] She says she doesn't know if she feels like a hero. I think we can help her feel that way!
![]() Orkira: |
[Whispers] What did you have in mind?
| 5 | Defeat the Flying Snake Swarm | THEY SWARM NOW?? Deal with this swarm of FLYING SNAKES! | ||||
![]() Freely: |
[Whispers] Hey, watch how subtle this is. [Clears throat and speaks up] Hey, Nayeli! What does heroism mean to you?
![]() Orkira: |
[Whispers] Where was the subtlety?
Nayeli: |
Uh, a little bit of an out-of-nowhere question, but I guess heroism to me is protecting those who cannot protect themselves. Standing against those with power who would use it to hurt those that don't.
Wren: |
[Sighs] | |||||
Nayeli: |
Everything all right, Wren?
Wren: |
Yeah, I'm fine. | |||||
| 6 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Mud mephits? Who knew there were so many mephits in the Outlands? | ||||
| 7 | Defeat 25 Enemies | This forest is full of things that want to make us deaders! Get fightin'! | ||||
![]() Orkira: |
[Whispers] All right, now THIS is going to be subtle. [Falls into a tangle of branches] AH! They got me! Someone help! [Twigs come to life] OH! These REALLY got me! HELP!
| 8 | Collect 25 Twig Blights | Orkira needs help! Cut those twig blights off of her! | ||||
![]() Orkira: |
Oh, wow, thank you, Wren - you really saved my tail there.
Wren: |
[Blank stare] You're usually more careful than that. I'm sure you'll watch your step next time.
![]() Freely: |
[Whispers] It was a good try, Orkira.
| 9 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Looks like Orkira kicked the hornet's nest - well, blight nest? You get what I mean - cut 'em down! | ||||
![]() Freely: |
There's the tree blight! He looks mean and nasty! He'd totally kill a bunch of innocent people if they were just walking through here. You got this, Wren!
Wren: |
[Sighs] Sure, I'll take the lead on this one.
| 10 | Defeat the Tree Blight | Freely is acting weird, but he's right - take care of that tree blight! | ||||
![]() Orkira: |
Nice work, Wren! | |||||
![]() Freely: |
Go, Wren! | |||||
Wren: |
[Sighs] I appreciate what the two of you are doing, but can you please stop? This isn't helping. In fact, it's just making me think about it even more.
Nayeli: |
Can I ask what's going on? Why are Freely and Orkira acting so strange?
![]() Freely: |
What? Haha, no, we're not acting strange! Right, Orkira?
![]() Orkira: |
We're acting a little strange.
Wren: |
They're acting strange because of me. I told Freely earlier that I don't know if I'm really a hero because I don't know what it feels like, and I'm worried that my actions are just influenced by all of your heroic actions.
Nayeli: |
Oh. I see. | |||||
Wren: |
Yeah. I'm guessing he told Orkira and the two of them hatched a plan to help me feel like a hero.
![]() Orkira: |
Uh, if it makes you feel better - we didn't really have a plan?
| 11 | Defeat 25 Enemies | More mephits! But these ones are made of ice! Heat things up! | ||||
| 12 | Defeat 25 Enemies | The mephits are working together! No one likes muddy ice! | ||||
Nayeli: |
Wren, can we talk? | |||||
Wren: |
Uh, yeah, sure, why not?
| 13 | Collect 25 Mud Clumps | Let's give them some time. While they're gone - get some mud together and build a fort! ...What? | ||||
Nayeli: |
All right, are you in a place where I can give you some tough honesty?
Wren: |
I think that's what I need right now.
Nayeli: |
Good. I can't help you with the actions you do - that's purely up to you. I don't care if you've been just copying me - you're a good fighter and haven't gotten in the way.
Nayeli: |
I also can't stand here and tell you what being a hero feels like. That's something you need to sit with and figure out. But you're not going to find that feeling unless you try.
Wren: |
...You're right. Thank you, Nayeli. I needed to hear that.
| 14 | Defeat 25 Enemies | This forest is full of nasty magic! Keep fightin'! | ||||
| 15 | Defeat the Colossal Ice Mephit | Is that a small glacier? ...Nope, it's a colossal ice mephit! Break it to bits! | ||||
![]() Freely: |
Uh, Wren, I hope you're not too upset with me.
Wren: |
Honestly, Freely, I was in the moment, but I've cooled off. You're my friend, and you wanted to help me. I appreciate that. But next time, maybe talk to me before just trying something?
![]() Freely: |
Understood, will do! | |||||
| 16 | Defeat 25 Enemies | These caves look like THE WORST! Let's fight our way through as fast as we can! | ||||
| 17 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Gross, gross, gross - and that's coming from someone who lived in a pile of bones! Clear 'em out! | ||||
| 18 | Collect 25 Gems | Ooo, pretty gems! Grab as many as you can! Maybe we can swap out some of my teeth! | ||||
| 19 | Defeat 25 Enemies | These bats look like they've been altered by something - take 'em down before they poison you! | ||||
| 20 | Defeat the Shoosuva | A fiend! It must have altered the bats - make that shoosuva a deader! | ||||
Morte: |
Ah, Glorium. It's been a while since I've been here. Things look... well, they look exactly the same. I don't know what I expected.
Havilar: |
Do you know where the gate is?
Morte: |
You know, now that you mention it - I don't remember seeing a gate here last time. But I'm sure it's around here somewhere! Let's take a look!
| 21 | Defeat 25 Enemies | There aren't a lot of people around - but there sure are a lot of winter wolves! And they want to make you dinner! | ||||
| 22 | Defeat 25 Enemies | The wildlife REALLY isn't a fan of us! Get fightin'! | ||||
Calliope: |
I don't want to be a downer, but I'm not seeing a gate anywhere.
Havilar: |
Yeah, and there aren't too many people around to ask. Maybe we should look for the person in charge?
| 23 | Collect 25 Raven Feathers | Maybe we can get these ravens to stop attacking if they think we're one of them! Grab some feathers, and we'll make a disguise! | ||||
Havilar: |
Excuse me, are you the town leader?
Tyrza: |
That would be me. What can I do for you?
Havilar: |
We were hoping you could point us toward your gate? We need to get this little guy to it.
Mosaic Mimir: |
[Clicking and static sounds]
Tyrza: |
Oh, that's unfortunate.
Havilar: |
Why? Did something happen to the gate?
Tyrza: |
No but getting there is nigh impossible right now.
| 24 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Well, the raven plan worked - but the wolves are back, and they brought boars! | ||||
![]() Freely: |
Why is it impossible? | |||||
Tyrza: |
I said nigh impossible. It depends on if you think you're brave enough to face the giant whirlwyrm and its brood.
![]() Freely: |
Uh, giant whirlwyrm? | |||||
Tyrza: |
Yes - a massive serpent in the lake. Some say it's over fifty feet long! And its spawn are over half that size. They've taken up residence around the maelstrom in the center of the lake. The gate is in the deep within that maelstrom.
![]() Freely: |
Oh, I see... | |||||
Tyrza: |
All of the residents of Glorium are hiding in shame - none of them brave enough to set out into the waters and face the beasts. I, too, am afraid to go...
| 25 | Defeat the Dire Wolf | A dire wolf! Don't let him bury my skull somewhere - get fightin'! | ||||
Havilar: |
Say we did want to go face down those whirlwyrms - how might we go about getting out there?
Tyrza: |
Unless you've brought your own boat - you'd need to convince one of the ship captains to take you out. But I don't know if there is anyone foolish enough to go with you.
![]() Freely: |
Finding people as foolish as us is one of our specialties.
Havilar: |
All right, maybe finding someone foolish enough to take us isn't going to be as easy as I thought. Anyone have any luck?
Wren: |
Nope. People will barely talk to me, let alone agree to set sail.
Nayeli: |
There has to be someone. Keep looking!
| 26 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Those seagulls are divebombing us! Fight 'em off! | ||||
| 27 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Ice mephits could be a real problem for these ships - better shatter 'em while you got the chance! | ||||
| 28 | Collect 25 Sea Gull Feathers | All right, same plan as the ravens - get those feathers! | ||||
Bkol: |
So, you want to go out on the lake, huh?
Calliope: |
More than that - we need to get to the gate.
Bkol: |
Now THAT is either the actions of someone who doesn't comprehend the danger or someone looking to become a legend.
Morte: |
For the Champions, I think it's both.
| 29 | Defeat 25 Enemies | More ice mephits! Don't let them ruin the ships! | ||||
Bkol: |
Lucky for you all, I'm looking for some excitement. But I'm also looking for coin. Can you provide plenty of that?
Nayeli: |
I think we can provide an amount that would be worth your time.
Bkol: |
Very well, then! You got yourself a boat and a captain. Now, let's not waste any time - let's get this moveable feast underway!
| 30 | Defeat the Massive Battle Scarred Crocodile | A massive crocodile just crawled onto the dock! Get fightin' before you're lunch! | ||||
| 31 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Crabs are crawling up the side of the ship! Don't let them take me overboard! | ||||
| 32 | Defeat 25 Enemies | The seagulls are back! And they're on the crab's side! Get fightin'! | ||||
Wren: |
So, how bad are these whirlwyrms?
Bkol: |
Honestly, they are some of the most terrifying creatures I've ever encountered. I've seen one bite a ship in half and another wrap around the whole vessel and drag it down.
Wren: |
Those were small ships, right? Smaller than this one?
Bkol: |
Oh, no - they were a little bit bigger than this ship here.
Wren: |
Oh. Great. | |||||
| 33 | Collect 25 Crab Legs | All right, that's it - time to get some crab legs! I'm starvin'! | ||||
| 34 | Defeat 25 Enemies | More crocodiles! They're gettin' snappy! | ||||
Bkol: |
The waves are shifting - that can only mean... WHIRLWYRM!
| 35 | Defeat the Whirlwyrm | All right, here's your first whirlwyrm! Give it your all! | ||||
Bkol: |
Gods - there's another ship out there! What are those fools doing?
Trapped Hero: |
Help! A whirlwyrm is trying to pull our boat under!
Bkol: |
What are you even doing out here?!
![]() Cocky Hero: |
We thought we could defeat the whirlwyrms!
![]() Scared Hero: |
We were wrong! | |||||
Bkol: |
Damn, I hope you all are good at rescuing people.
Nayeli: |
We are. Just get us as close as you can!
| 36 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Where did these bullywugs come from?! How many problems do we need? Protect the ship! | ||||
| 37 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Are these bullywugs working with the whirlwyrms? Doesn't matter - make 'em deaders! | ||||
Wren: |
All right, that's close enough, I'm going over.
![]() Freely: |
Me too! Keep defending the ship - we'll make sure the people make it over!
| 38 | Defeat 1 Ship Debris | They're trying to take over the ship! Break their barricade and kick 'em off the ship! | ||||
Wren: |
All right, just one more!
![]() Freely: |
Oh no! The whirlwyrm is getting ready to attack!
Wren: |
Come on! We have to be quick!
![]() Freely: |
No. You get that last passenger to safety - I'll give you all time.
Wren: |
You can't take that thing on your own.
![]() Freely: |
I know, but at least I know I'll just come back!
Wren: |
It's still going to hurt! You're still going to feel it!
![]() Freely: |
Hey, this is what heroes do. Selflessness is just part of the role! Now go!
| 39 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Doesn't sound like things are going well over there; keep fightin'! | ||||
![]() Orkira: |
Where's Freely? | |||||
Wren: |
He stayed to fight the whirlwyrm so we could get back to the ship.
![]() Orkira: |
[Gasps] I... I'm never going to get used to this losing-someone-but-they-come-back thing. Still, I'm glad you and the passengers are safe.
Nayeli: |
No time to rest; we've got whirlwyrms!
| 40 | Defeat the Whirlwyrms | TWO WHIRLWYRMS! Defeat these things before they tear you in half! | ||||
Havilar: |
All right, I think we're close enough to the gate. We just need to stay here for a bit while the mimir does its thing.
Mosaic Mimir: |
[Static sounds] Initializing.
| 41 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Sahuagin too?? This lake is out to get us! Don't let it take us down! | ||||
| 42 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Sure, more fish people, why not? KEEP FIGHTIN'! | ||||
| 43 | Collect 25 Fish | Don't let those dropped fish go to waste - I'm not gonna be a hungry deader! | ||||
| 44 | Defeat 25 Enemies | Is that mimir done yet? The ship is almost overrun! | ||||
Bkol: |
There! The giant whirlwyrm! Gods protect us!
Wren: |
Well, since there aren't any here - I guess we'll have to step in. Come on, Champions!
| 45 | Defeat the Giant Whirlwyrm | THAT'S A BIG WHIRLWYRM! I'm gonna hide - you make that into a big deader! | ||||
Bkol: |
Incredible. I've never seen fighting like that. We'd all be dead if it weren't for you.
Wren: |
Because he's not here to say it - it's what heroes do.
Nayeli: |
Do you actually feel that way?
Wren: |
I think I'm starting to.
Mosaic Mimir: |
[Static sounds followed by a click] Information logged. Corruption stabilized. Information on the Great Modron March is now available.
![]() Freely: |
Hey! What took you all so long? Couldn't defeat the whirlwyrms without me?
Wren: |
We handled it just fine.
![]() Freely: |
Oh... | |||||
Wren: |
But we would have done it in half the time if you had been there.
![]() Freely: |
Ha! You're darn right! | |||||
Wren: |
Glad to have you back, Freely.
![]() Freely: |
Glad to be back! That dying thing is ROUGH!
| 46 | Defeat 25 Enemies | The ravens are back at it! Clip some wings! | ||||
| 47 | Defeat 25 Enemies | The birds are joining forces! Don't let them carry me away! | ||||
| 48 | Collect 25 Vulture Feathers | We need another feather disguise! Get some feathers! | ||||
| 49 | Defeat 25 Enemies | They saw straight through the disguise! | ||||
| 50 | Defeat the Roc | They brought a REALLY BIG BIRD! Defeat it before it swallows you whole! | ||||
Tyrza: |
Unbelievable! Bkol tells me you all defeated the giant whirlwyrm!
Nayeli: |
We did and managed to save a ship of foolish adventurers.
Tyrza: |
Incredible. Truly incredible! Well, you can't leave just yet - we have to throw a giant feast in your honor! You all are heroes of Glorium!
![]() Freely: |
You hear that, Wren? | |||||
Wren: |
Well, I guess I can't deny it now. HAHA!
