Charred wasteland of vast ashen plains covered in rubble and the occasional line of foothills and basalt mountains heaped with broken rocks of obsidian and quartz, Avernus is the first layer of the Nine Hells (home of the devils). It is the setting for the Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus campaign and also part of the Vecna: Eve of Ruin campaign.
